Class Description
Social emotional learning (SEL) is a methodology that helps children better comprehend their emotions, to feel and recognize those emotions fully and demonstrate empathy for themselves and others. In each class, students will embark on a gentle and engaging exploration of mindfulness practices specifically tailored to their unique developmental needs. Through simple and fun activities, they will be introduced to the importance of paying attention to their breath and using it as an anchor to stay present in the moment. They will learn techniques to calm their minds and relax their bodies. Music and sound will play an integral role in our mindfulness journey. This not only heightens their mindfulness but also cultivates a sense of curiosity and wonder about the world around them. Self-regulation is a vital skill to develop, as it equips us with the ability to manage our emotions, thoughts, and behaviors. Our class will guide students to recognize their feelings and offer them simple yet powerful tools to express and regulate their emotions in healthy ways. In addition to self-regulation, we will also explore the concept of co-regulation. Through group activities and partner exercises, they will practice active listening, effective communication, and supporting one another with kindness.
