Class Description
Welcome to Poetry Tea Time. This class is for Middle and High Schoolers. Each week, there will be assigned reading to be completed before class. (None for the 1st class.) I will be handing out a notebook the first week of class for them to be able to write stuff down. I want them to explore and write different poetry. We will have different prompts for discussions. Students are encouraged to take notes at home to talk about in class.
During class, we will share a snack and discussion. We will wrap up by going over the next week's assignment and who has snacks. At least twice, we will do a poetry slam and everyone is encouraged to write or find poetry to read to the class.
For snack- each child will sign up to bring snack for a few times, depending on how many children are in class. I will provide tea if your student wants, if not, feel free to send a drink. The last week will be a small party, where everyone can bring a small treat to share.
I will set up a Google Classroom so that you will know what we are doing each week. A parent and/or student will need to join to access the weekly at-home reading assignments.
