Class Description
In this art studio class we will study influential artists from various periods and movements. Through research and practical application, you’ll learn about the diverse techniques, styles, and mediums that defined these masters, while developing your own personal art practice. Each week, we’ll focus on a different artist or group of artists, examining their contributions to the art world and understanding how their unique methods can inspire your own work. Students will be expected to conduct independent research on the artists we explore. This will involve reading articles, watching videos, and analyzing specific pieces of artwork to understand the artist’s technique, philosophy, and historical context. The research will serve as the foundation for your own creative experiments, as you’ll apply the styles, tools, and concepts learned to create original pieces of art. **Key Learning Objectives:** - Conduct independent research on famous artists and art movements. - Analyze the techniques and creative philosophies behind iconic works of art. - Experiment with a variety of artistic mediums, including painting, drawing, and mixed media. - Apply research findings to create personal artwork inspired by the artists studied. - Strengthen critical thinking and artistic decision-making through hands-on exercises.
