Class Description
Early Childhood Development will focus on the stages of development of milestones and skills of children from 5 years old and up. The class is a continuation of early child development that focused on prenatal- preschool development. Last semester we focused on stages of varying theorists, developmental milestones, skills, and concepts that children attain during this period of their lives from prenatal to 5 years of age. This class will be a continuation. We will focus on levels of development including exploring appropriate play and toys at different levels, developmental milestones and skills for each age range. We will also learn how children learn social-emotional skills, beginning of numeracy, literacy, and critical thinking. There maybe times students will need to research teaching materials from either books, catalogs, or from the internet at home. We will make some easy learning games and activities that can be used in a classroom or with children. This class will be a great start for any students or a continuation of students hoping to learn how to effectively work in a classroom, babysitting, or other opportunities with children. This class will involve discussions and researching out side of class and some hands-on activities as well as possibly visiting, observing and helping in other classes.
