Class Description
This class introduces students to the exciting world of basic chemistry through interactive lessons and hands-on experiments. Students will explore foundational concepts such as states of matter, atoms and molecules, chemical reactions, mixtures and solutions, acids and bases, and simple physical and chemical changes. Each class combines short instruction with engaging activities designed to spark curiosity and reinforce understanding. Students will actively participate in experiments like creating bubbling chemical reactions, building simple molecular models, testing pH with indicators, and separating mixtures using real-world techniques. Emphasis is placed on observation, critical thinking, and scientific discussion in a fun, supportive environment. Lab notebooks will be used weekly. Student must have the ability and willingness to write/log data in their notebook. Instructor will keep the notebooks throughout the semester and students will take them home on the last week of Co-op.

What class supplies do parents need to provide?
Please supply your student with a pair of safety goggles each week. Students should also come every week with basic school supplies including pencil, colored pencils, scissors and glue stick.

Lab notebooks will be used weekly. Student must have the ability and willingness to write/draw/log data in their notebook. Instructor will keep the notebooks throughout the semester and students will take them home on the last week of Co-op.
