Class Description
In this class, we will be learning the basics of successful gardening. Students will learn how to prepare soil, naturally amend soil, select plants, proper watering, and climate needs. They will learn how to care for gardens, how to encourage pollinators, and many more fun things to set them up for success with gardening. This is a hands-on class. Every class day the students will be taking something home to use in their own garden — compost bins, worm farms, pollinator gardens, microgreens, seedlings, bulbs, potato sacks, and more! So, it would be great if the students could have a gardening space at home — a small area in the yard, a raised bed, or even some container gardens to practice all the skills they are learning. We will be working out of a Gardening Workbook, which they will be taking home at the end of the semester.
