Class Description
Students will learn basic theater terminology along with basic skills of a musical theater production including, projection, blocking, choreography, and acting skills. We will be working on the production of Newsies Jr. and it will be performed in the spring semester (late February or early March). We will also perform at the Fall and Spring Co-op Showcase.

Students are required to have BLACK JAZZ SHOES for all rehearsals and their base costumer for tech week and the shows.

#1 ATTENDANCE IS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT! If a student is missing too many classes that were not given as conflicts then there will be a discussion with the student and parent about the need to have their role in the show changed. Absences make rehearsals very difficult. I need to know conflicts at auditions. #2 Practicing on your own time is REQUIRED! Every student's role is important to the show, therefore it is important that each student attend every class and extra rehearsal. Students will need to commit to spend time OUT OF CLASS WEEKLY to review their music, lines, blocking, and choreography. That is their weekly HOMEWORK. Their commitment allows us to run our rehearsals efficiently. #3 This is a full year class. Students must be able to focus, listen closely to instructions and follow directions Class disruptions will put everyone behind schedule. DATES: August 5th: AUDITIONS August 18th: 1st rehearsal! (Meet the Teacher) August 25th: First day of co-op classes WINTER REHEARSALS: December 1st December 8th January 4th January 19th (Meet the Teacher) January 26th: First day of co-op classes Tech week: February 22nd-25th (projected) Shows: February 26th & 27th (projected) ****We use the BAND app as our means of communication. IT IS REQUIRED that every student has access to the BAND app in some way. This is how we relay important information such as music, choreography videos, call times, costuming, etc. BAND is also the quickest/best way to get in contact with me.
