Class Description
Peer Mediation is a student-led course rooted in the practice of mindfulness, where students come together in a collaborative, club-like environment to develop the skills needed to help others navigate conflict with empathy and intention. Rather than following a traditional classroom structure, students take an active role in shaping discussions, leading activities, and guiding the group — all while building a strong foundation in mindfulness techniques, active listening, emotional regulation, and effective communication. Through guided training and real-world practice, students will learn how to approach conflict not as something to avoid, but as an opportunity for growth, understanding, and connection. After completing peer mediation training and practicing their skills within the group, students will have the opportunity to extend their impact beyond the classroom by offering peer mediation services to fellow members of our co-op community. This is a course for students who are ready to show up with open minds, compassionate hearts, and a genuine desire to make their community a more peaceful and supportive place for everyone.
