Class Description
This class throws out the stiff, formal speech-class playbook in favor of something a bit more relaxed. Think games, team challenges, and low-stakes practice that builds skill without the pressure. Instead of starting from a blank page, students will borrow the words of others though performing poetry, short scenes, and excerpts from famous speeches, so they can focus on delivery rather than getting stuck on what to say.
Along the way, we'll thoughtfully work on the skills that make any speaker more compelling: thinking on your feet, cutting out filler words, speaking with intention and inflection, and using body language that backs up what your student has to say.
This class is a space for your student to take risks, laugh at the awkward moments, and hopefully walk away with the confidence to speak up and make their voice heard.

Additional Info:
This will be a high participation class. Students will be presenting frequently and asking questions when their peers present. We will also be doing activities that encourage conversation and building of social skills. The tone and the pace of the class will be gentle, and I completely understand that some days students are feeling more social than others; but I just wanted to provide some clarity since out space is limited.
