Class Description
Get ready to sharpen your thinking skills! This semester, we’ll dive into the exciting world of logic guided by The Fallacy Detective. This class is designed for 5th-7th graders and will introduce students to the basics of clear thinking, good reasoning, and how to spot faulty arguments in everyday life. We’ll explore questions like What is a fallacy? Why do people use them? How can we recognize them when they appear in conversations or even in our own thinking? Students will learn many different types of fallacies—how they work, why they’re convincing, and how to call them out them with confidence. Our lessons will be fun and interactive. Through group discussions, examples, stories, and activities, we will practice thinking more carefully and expressing ideas more clearly. By the end of the course, they’ll have a stronger foundation in logical reasoning and a powerful new set of tools for understanding the world around them. Class fee will cover the cost of the book, which will be provided on the first day of class.
